Paradise a Free Vampire Poem
by Rebecca Gillespie
"Paradise" the free vampire poem by Rebecca Gillespie was her response to a problem anyone trying to find great vampire poetry online faces, while there is a lot of poetry featuring vampires, little of it is actually good -- let alone great. As an instructor I can say, this poem exceeds good, it attains excellent.
Paradise I remember the taste of good wine, The laughter of women, And the yells of men. We would dance the Saltarello And the merriment would last, At least until morning. Then we would fulfill our duties Ready for another night to begin So that we might forget our daily troubles And slip into a world Of temporary paradise.
Now time has passed And I am forever young. I no longer taste good wine And the laughter of women Only fills me with hunger. The men still yell, But out of fear. I dance the Macabre Instead of the Saltarello. I do not worry About daily chores and duties, But now hold the key To a permanent paradise.
