Call for Submissions of Vampire Poetry
I am looking for some modern vampire poetry to feature on this site with a new one twice a month. And since I have yet to get creative, or inspired, in that direction, it opens an opportunity to readers to be published online here. The poetry I want to feature should make the readers feel (and I'm not talking feel like hitting the move button!). It should also communicate clearly, succinctly, and grammatically. I have an academic reputation to care for, and the poetry I publish here reflects on my ability to judge papers. Note that this isn't a paying gig. I don't make anything off this site except being read by people, and that is the opportunity I am offering you. Directions: - Punctuation is needed. I teach grammar and punctuation serves a communication purpose. If you don't understand that requirement, please do not submit your poetry.
- Length really depends upon the needs of the writer, but if it is long, it should need to be long.
- Every word should be spelled correctly
- No fancy formatting or backgrounds since this site and my html knowledge both have severe limits.
- I am not looking for derivative work -- so don't write poems aimed at Bella or Edward or any of the many popular vampires. (Now Spike, Hmmm....)
- I repeat: Punctuation. Required.
Legal Stuff: You retain all copyright, and are simply granting me permission to use your poem on my site. If you email me to pull it, I will do so as soon as is possible (given it's summer and I camp a lot, it might be a few weeks, so please be patient). Again, by submitting the poem you grant me permission to use it on this website, and this website only. Please use the following form to get your submission to me. If you need a longer space, use the form to contact me.... Thanks!Leslie
After the last few nasty responses from authors when I suggested a few word/grammar changes, I reached an executive decision. I am only responding to author's whose poetry I wish to use here. If you don't hear back from me timely, submit elsewhere after checking grammar, scansion, word choice -- and all those picky author things.
